<p>There are a host of reasons why power system designers have increasingly been turning to digital power over the past decade. The principal drivers have been the demand to provide sophisticated power management functions, along with a desire to reduce board space and the number of external components. This is especially true in the distributed power architectures that now dominate the design of power systems for high performance datacom and telecom networks, and data center equipment.</p>

Among its features is the 128-bit wide Xtensa Local Memory Interface, which can be used to connect Xtensa processors in parallel, or integrate existing state machine logic into Xtensa's memory.

The technologies to deal with complex environments, i.e., the ecosystem of transportation, including occupancy, pedestrian traffic, parking and public transportation as well as demand management, are only starting to mature now — combining the ability to adapt signal timing to more sophisticated predictive analytics and real-time monitoring. Currently, the state-of-the-art is alternating lights in a fixed way according to the time of day. The more sophisticated versions also use sensor data of traffic queues at intersections.”

Use Cases provide a simple and straightforward mechanism fororganizing and representing a system's major functional elements.Users, managers, and developers can all understand the notation anddescription as they discuss the system's basic operationalrequirements.

Sequence Diagrams Each Use Case describes some important functional capability of thesystem. The textual description of the Use Case often providessufficient detail, but to better understand the various scenariosthat could arise during Use Case execution, you can elaborate thedescriptions with one or more Sequence Diagrams. These diagramsallow users to define the functional requirements of the system ata finer level of detail.

The Sequence Diagram captures a specificscenario or processing thread through the system. A powerfulapproach illustrated in Figure 3 , is to describe a sequence using apseudo-code-like structure on the left-hand side of the SequenceDiagram. This structure may optionally contain constructs forselection (choice) and iteration, which allow many actual scenariosthrough the sequence. This layering of decomposition from UseCases, to Sequence Diagrams, to specific scenarios is one way thatthe UML allows us to deal with larger and more complexsystems.

As part of the requirements analysis, itis also useful to conduct an initial object-identificationexercise. The objects involved in each Sequence Diagram willsupport the responsibilities of the system necessary to deliver thefunctionality of the Use Case. No formal UML views are involved atthis point, but the Class Diagram is one place to store the namesof the objects you are identifying. A common Data Dictionary isalso a very good place to begin capturing object information.You'll use the objects found during this step in the constructionof the right-hand, message sequence portion of the SequenceDiagram.

As shown in Figure 2 , the actors ofour Process Control System are tied to specific operationalcapabilities of the requirements model. In Figure 3 , the Process Containers Use Case is expanded. Thediagram maps the individual sequence actions on the left-hand sideto object interactions on the right-hand side. Each action isassociated with a message passing between two preliminary objects,or with an actor. The objects and actors are represented withvertical lines, and the messages are represented as horizontallines between objects. The messages may also have parameters, forexample, the FrameId” parameter of the analyze” message.Communication between objects (or interactions) collectivelyimplements a Use Case. The objects identified during this stagewill likely be decomposed and elaborated in later stages ofanalysis and design. This is one of the fundamental aspects ofusing UML—the idea of future elaboration.

With its new Mali-T800 graphics core family, ARM has a new weapon in its ambitious goal of winning designs in more than 600 million SoCs in 2015. There’s no clear way at this point to measure exactly how the new cores stack up against heady competition from Imagination Technologies, Qualcomm and others, but it’s a safe bet ARM will expand its market share in graphics this year.
